Whenever I mention my love of Taylor Swift people always think I'm not serious. I think what is surprising about my Swiftie fandom is that we are not similar at all. She is very tall. I am about average height. She has blonde hair. My hair is black. She is known for having rocky relationships. I am known for being a relationship expert. We are very different.
Nonetheless when 1989 came out it was pretty much all I listened to for two months. This album is just filled with certified jams. I think what I love about it is how it can be a fun record or a record for thinking about that one person who got away.....
When I listen to albums like this I become so glad that I outgrew my snobby junior high "indie" phase and grew into the beautiful, Ciara-bopping swan that I am today. Consequently, I have become inspired to create a list of the twenty best pop songs. These songs are especially great for a high energy road mix because you can jam to them with almost anyone. I realize that all of these songs were released post-2000 but if I am being honest, I cannot remember the 90s at all so I might as well have not existed during that time period.
